Notes
Virza’s built-in notes editor lets you capture ideas, summarize findings, and draft directly alongside your research documents.
Creating notes
- Click New Note in the sidebar
- Or open a document and click Create Note to start a note linked to that document
Rich text editor
The notes editor supports:
- Headings: H1, H2, H3 for structure
- Bold, italic,
strikethroughformatting - Bullet and numbered lists
- Code blocks: For technical content
- Block quotes: For important excerpts
- Links: To external URLs or other documents in your library
- Inline citations: Reference documents from your library directly
Linking notes to documents
Notes can be connected to one or more documents:
- Open the note
- Click Link Document in the toolbar
- Search for and select documents from your library
Linked documents appear in the note’s sidebar, giving you quick access to the original source.
Organizing notes
- Collections: Notes appear alongside documents in collections
- Search: Notes are fully searchable just like documents
- Pin: Pin important notes to the top of your sidebar
Auto-save is always on. Your notes are saved as you type, so there’s no need to click Save.
Tips for research notes
- One note per concept: Rather than one massive note, create focused notes per idea or finding
- Use headings: Structure makes notes scannable later
- Link liberally: Connect notes to their source documents for easy reference
- Review regularly: Come back to notes periodically to synthesize and refine
